UB Athletics
Students who are interested in combating violence can attend self-defense seminars offered by UB Athletics. These seminars are only available to students who have a valid UB Student Card or Intramural Sports Permit Card. Participation in intramural sports requires students to show good sportsmanship towards opponents as well as Recreation staff. A University may suspend or cancel a contest if there is misconduct.
These workshops are taught in Rape Aggression Defense classes by Rape Defense Defense instructors who have been certified by the University at Buffalo Police Department. Greenpoint branch of Renzo Gracie Academy hosted a seminar on self-defense for women on March 19, with guest instructor Arthan bandeira. After many of her clients requested one, Chen and Bandeira organized the seminar. Both have been training together over three years, and they practice at least twice a day.
