How to Survive an Invasion at Home

Home invasion is scary, especially for children. We didn't know what it would feel like to be in the midst of home invasions when we began our home security installation journey. Here are the lessons we have learned thus far.

  1. Don't let your children witness the attackers. Our kids were sleeping upstairs when two men broke into our house. We kept them downstairs till the police arrived. The police arrived and our kids were not hurt. However, the traumatizing images did enough to make them feel scared.

  3. Keep An Eye Out For Burglars. Our neighborhood has many burglaries. We always keep an eye out for suspicious vehicles and people.
  4. Have a Backup Plan. Our family will be financially protected in case anything happens. We also have a plan that allows us to leave the United States if necessary.
  5. Always be prepared Prepare for anything. Always have food, water, or other supplies on hand.
  6. Get help immediately by calling 911. If you find out that someone has broken into your home, call 911 immediately. It is better than waiting for authorities to knock on your door.
  7. Use common sense. Don't let anyone inside who doesn't belong there. You should not invite strangers to your home.
  8. Seek out help from neighbors and other people in the local area. If you feel uneasy, call friends or neighbors. They can watch your back, while you call the police.
